Historically, EMH was composed of and open only to universities and research centers across Europe. Since 2024, EMH' statutes have evolved, allowing any natural or legal person willing to develop activities in the field of membrane science and technologies to become a member of the association.
Two types of members represent the association and the General Assembly:
- Effective members
- Associate members
The association is led by an executive team composed of a president, a treasurer, an executive director, and a communication and events officer. The administrators are appointed by the General Assembly.
